Nancy O'Dell's career began in Myrtle Beach South Carolina as a news reporter and anchor with WPDE-TV. In the following years, she worked as a morning-news anchor and crime report at WCBD TV. When she was in Charleston O'Dell's reports on the lenient police approach to DUI cases resulted in a State Law Enforcement Division investigation which resulted in the state authorities re-issuing an even more strict directive on DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded her Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. Following her stint living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as an anchor co-host for NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV as well as an investigative reporter. Then she joined Access Hollywood to work as the weekend and weekday correspondent. Additionally, she is an anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. The anchor has hosted a number of Pre-ShowArrivals programs for The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. Co-hosted the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
